Writing is what I do for fun, but it has not been my profession. Long ago I sold a few stories and things were getting interesting when life somehow happened. I took on other kinds of work to support my family, and I eventually became an English/literature teacher. A few years later I switched to being a Mathematics teacher and high school/middle school coach. For 44 years students communicated with me and for some of them, I made a difference. I also coached sports for 30 years, had an apiary of 150 hives for 25 years, worked as a fireman, an EMT, a salesman, a campaign manager, dog trainer, laundry worker, and a newspaper reporter. I love fine art, music, and literature. I appreciate puzzles of all kinds. Nature and life fascinate me. Although I have health problems, PD and RA, everyday is a good day and I’m glad to be alive. Stories have been welling up inside me for years, and I have to share them. If some stories make you laugh, that’s good. If some challenge you to think, that’s even better. If some stories encourage you to interact with the world and make it a better place, then I’ve accomplished what I set out to do. I like the quote, “Life is not a spectator sport.” Until my last dying gasp I hope to swim in the river of life, sometimes upstream, sometimes down, but always with a purpose.
